On Sunday, September 18, 2011 it was sunny and lovely out so we drove through several quaint little villages to get to Blackpool—Blackpool is known as a holiday town and is built along the waterfront and sort of reminds me of Coney Island, NY. It has 3 big piers (one with a giant ferris wheel) and lots of amusement venues as well as a zoo and park. So here is some pictures of our trip:
Black Bull pub across the street from the White Bull pub in Great Eccleston:Wrea Green village center:
Lytham Windmill next to the Ribble estuary:
Notice the “chimney pots” on every chimney—they are beautiful:
The seaside on the way to Blackpool:
And right next to it is one HUGE roller coaster!:
That’s Blackpool Tower (600 feet high) in the distance:
Tableaux that are lighted up along part of the Illumination promenade!:
Geoff waiting for me in his classic Porsche 924!:
Above is a kite surfer braving the cold Irish sea! There was a windsurfer, too, but I didn’t capture him on film.
Fleetwood town center…a former fishing hub. They still make Fisherman’s Friend there, however!:
Our “Moby Dick” order (shared!) of Fish n Chips and mushy peas! YUM! The best!:
Then on to the night festivities riding an old tram (they will be taking them out of service and replacing them so a real treat to ride) along the Illuminations:
TO BE CONTINUED...SORRY...RUNNING LOW ON BATTERY...DARN IT, ANYHOW!
Love, Sue & Geoff xo
