BYE TO SAVANNAH...HELLO HOME!

MONDAY, June 13, 2011 - Last day and night in Savannah.

It was one hot day here...I think it was 98 degrees then cooled down to 97 and then rained while we were having dinner by the river (again) and became rather humid but I must say I am going to miss this beautiful sunshine.   And what a town Savannah is!!!!

I made a lunch reservation for us at Paula Deen's Restaurant "The Lady and Sons".   Not surprisingly, you have to stand in line to get a reservation in person if your party is less than 10.  Her restaurant is 3 floors and it stays full all the hours she is open (lunch and dinner only).   So in the meantime SueB and I headed to do some shopping in the kitschy shops around the downtown area.   They set up the town with lost of "squares" that are either trees, fountains, statues or all of them:

Two boys enjoying the spurting fountain!
Love all the beautiful trees!
The City Hall.
Another way to get around, pedi-cabs!
$300 for an old bicycle built for two!

Lunch at Paula Deen's:
First you get a Hoe cake and a garlic/butter biscuit!  Yum
Then we had delicious Fried Green Tomatoes...double Yum!
Had to try the Chocolate Mousse pie!   Mmmmm....
SueB playing on her iPhone...
Me in Paula Deen's restaurant!   Loved it!

A fond memory for you, Geoff!

Off to dinner by the river....

SueB walking the line!
World War II Memorial

Along the riverfront...gorgeous evening!

Cobblestone stret and rails for the trolley cars!

Lots of old brick buildings and steps.

Back side of City Hall

Sun hat SueB liked (didn't buy) @ Hyatt gift shop!

Ferns growing out of downspouts along brick buildings!

Back to Fiddler's Crab House for another dinner!

More great views of ships coming and going!

Farewell view of the river and bridge!

Last night in Savannah toast!

Here's to YOU, dear Moon Sister!

Good night Savannah!

SueB heading up the down staircase!

Night night, Savannah!
Sleep tight!

Off to Atlanta fairly early tomorrow to leave Jon's SUV in storage for him (he will get it when he heads to Ft. Benning around the end of July) and fly home to Seattle.  Sure wish the sun would start shining there...although 98 is a bit too warm for this girl.  Love and best dishes (as Paula Deen would say)....

Signing off from Savannah!   xo Sue

SAVANNAH TIMES TWO....

Sunday, June 12, 2011 -- Back in Savannah, GA for the 2n time....

Geoff and I loved Savannah, GA and had a great time at the Old Pink House Restaurant and Tavern then spent some time at the Moon River Tavern and Brewing Company before we drove onto Melbourne:

In Melbourne, Florida with my moon sister, Sue Bailey--we had a blast:
Sue B & Geoff, at Charlie and Jake's

SueB, Me & Geoff @ "Squid Lips"!
Sebastian Beach, south of Melbourne FL
Geoff @ Captain Hirams

Then Geoff headed back to England on June 6 and it was ladies' night with Cosmos at the Melting Pot

:SueB, Me and Patty & our Cosmos!

We left there and went to SueB's and watched several episodes of Sex in the City--what fun!

SueB and I did lots of fun things including shopping at Bealls and SteinMart, going to the River Rocks and Friday Fest in Melbourne, plus the Brevard County Historical Society was quite interesting along with a fun meal with Doug, Wylie and Patty at Icabods on the harbor--then today drove all the way up here to Savannah and checked into the Inn at Ellis Square...just a block from the City Market and across the street from the river:

Our sax music as we ate!

Dinner at Fiddler's was delish!

Watching the boats move along the river!

Including a huge freighter that wouldn't fit into 1 single shot!

Me + SueB toasting our meal in Savannah!

Tomorrow we will se more Savannah sights and then on Tuesday we will drive to Atlanta, GA and leave Jon's SUV in storage and fly back to Seattle.   Hope to share more of Savannah with you tomorrow!

Cheers and love, Sue xo
