NOW FOR SOME STEWART ISLAND PICTURES!

FRIDAY, JANAUARY 28, 2011 - Still in Cromwell @ a wi fi cafe- Let's see how this goes!  :)***
Going back to my written post from Monday:

MONDAY, JANUARY 24, 2011 – Invercargill – 6 PM – We spent the day taking the ferry from Bluff to Stewart Island, then walking a couple of tracks around the area of Oban and then the ferry back to Bluff!   Another great day (despite the sandflies!)

Bluff = less than one horse town--but pretty on a sunny day!  Views from Bluff Hill:

This is the industrial town and port of Bluff^
The next morning arriving on Stewart Island via ferry:

The new house Geoff and I are buying on Stewart Island (it’s all we can afford!) J

The view of Paterson Inlet from Observation Rock:

Golden Bay and Iona Island:

Mussels, mussels everywhere!

Geoff found a giant mussel attached to a rock along with a little inch long, sea creature, greenish that sort of looks like a small turtle shell—it was stuck on the rock—and ideas what it is?

That’s 87 steps UP!   (There were lots of steps up and down along the path but this was the longest section UP, although the picture is looking down after I huffed my way up them!)

Iona Island in distance:

A peek at Deep Bay:

For my dear friend, Sue Bailey’s eyes only!  Hehe

Stewart Island late afternoon--that's our "Fast Cat" ferry arriving!

Love, Sue & Geoff xo  two tuckered out trekkers:

***So I am out of time and to update you on Milford and Doubtful Sound trips I will have to wait...they say pictures are worth a 1,000 words but I say they NEVER show you the true beauty.   Will share a few of my 500 pictures soon.  xo
