BEEN SO FAR SOUTH I CAN ALMOST SPIT ON THE SOUTH POLE!

TUESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2011- INVERCARGILL - 11 AM - We have been to Milford & Doubtful Sounds, all the way to Bluff (the most southern village in NZ) and on a ferry to Stewart Island (even further south) yesterday.   So how far SOUTH have you ever been?

Thanks to Jerry and Annie for the great emails and wishing them a great "bon voyage" for their upcoming cruise from Florida through the Panama Canal ending in San Diego (where I believe they may have met just a few years ago!)!!!!   I know you will have fun!

Yes, Larisa, it IS hard to imagine living any other way then this!   Life is good, that is for sure!

So last nite we had a wonderful meal at the HMS Kings restaurant...first we had green lipped mussels (sorry Havelock, we think these were even better!) followed by baked red cod (which neither of us had ever had--YUM!) and a bottle of Little Penguin Chardonnay (NZ) to wash it all down!  So I fell off the wagon!   :)   Actually, Geoff and I fell off a picnic table in Oban on Stewart Island while having a snack--it tipped over...not made very well--but neither of us was hurt--just my pride!  :)  We had hoped to have seafood while on Stewart Island but the few eating places were not open until later for food (we missed the lunch time feeding!).   Life is a bit different on a remote island!

Here's one "teaser" picture from yesterday...I need more time on the computer to get the last few days' pictures posted...all the trips have been incredibly interesting AND beautiful in their own rights!

The above picture was taken on a walking track between Golden Bay and Deep Bay and that is Iona Island in the middle!

We are headed to the Catlins today.  Hope to add my other pictures soon.   Love, Sue & Geoff xo
