BYE TO SAVANNAH...HELLO HOME!

MONDAY, June 13, 2011 - Last day and night in Savannah.

It was one hot day here...I think it was 98 degrees then cooled down to 97 and then rained while we were having dinner by the river (again) and became rather humid but I must say I am going to miss this beautiful sunshine.   And what a town Savannah is!!!!

I made a lunch reservation for us at Paula Deen's Restaurant "The Lady and Sons".   Not surprisingly, you have to stand in line to get a reservation in person if your party is less than 10.  Her restaurant is 3 floors and it stays full all the hours she is open (lunch and dinner only).   So in the meantime SueB and I headed to do some shopping in the kitschy shops around the downtown area.   They set up the town with lost of "squares" that are either trees, fountains, statues or all of them:

Two boys enjoying the spurting fountain!
Love all the beautiful trees!
The City Hall.
Another way to get around, pedi-cabs!
$300 for an old bicycle built for two!

Lunch at Paula Deen's:
First you get a Hoe cake and a garlic/butter biscuit!  Yum
Then we had delicious Fried Green Tomatoes...double Yum!
Had to try the Chocolate Mousse pie!   Mmmmm....
SueB playing on her iPhone...
Me in Paula Deen's restaurant!   Loved it!

A fond memory for you, Geoff!

Off to dinner by the river....

SueB walking the line!
World War II Memorial

Along the riverfront...gorgeous evening!

Cobblestone stret and rails for the trolley cars!

Lots of old brick buildings and steps.

Back side of City Hall

Sun hat SueB liked (didn't buy) @ Hyatt gift shop!

Ferns growing out of downspouts along brick buildings!

Back to Fiddler's Crab House for another dinner!

More great views of ships coming and going!

Farewell view of the river and bridge!

Last night in Savannah toast!

Here's to YOU, dear Moon Sister!

Good night Savannah!

SueB heading up the down staircase!

Night night, Savannah!
Sleep tight!

Off to Atlanta fairly early tomorrow to leave Jon's SUV in storage for him (he will get it when he heads to Ft. Benning around the end of July) and fly home to Seattle.  Sure wish the sun would start shining there...although 98 is a bit too warm for this girl.  Love and best dishes (as Paula Deen would say)....

Signing off from Savannah!   xo Sue

  1. oh Savannah Sue! Don't you love all the moss that hangs from the trees there...it's like being in a movie. That Paula D pie looks outrageous! Too bad you can't smuggle some home and then ship to Hawaii! LOL.
